Montessori Walk of Coins / Charity Walk

Montessori children are participating in a project called “Walk of Coins,” a charity walk.  They place donations of ¥100 or ¥10 coins in and around a map of Japan, which is located on the floor near the Montessori faculty room.  The children can also earn coins by doing chores at home and/or by performing acts of kindness.  Their goal is to earn enough money, which when converted into distance, will get them to a local park (where they will be allowed to play) and back.  The counting of the coins is tied in with a Montessori Math activity.
